Modi versus all in Lok Sabha poll irrespective of Priyanka Gandhi's front foot drive
1/24/2019 11:09:30 PM
That the interest has deepened in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. And this interest may have not been witnessed in any parliamentary elections in India. First of all its going to be a tough fight between the BJP and its allies and the grand alliance. With the entry of Priyanka Gandhi to be the next General Secretary it is going to be tough for Modi and his allies. Already the Congress seems to have lost the game when BSP and SP formed a mini alliance and decided to contest the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. On one side it is Modi and Amit Shah and on the other side it is Mamta Banerjee and Rahul Gandhi. Development is the last issue during the elections. Instead of it will be demonetization and GST that may be a point of debate between the Congress led Grand alliance and the BJP and its allies. The initial trend has shown the results. The poll results from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand is an indication that wind is not favourable for the BJP and its allies. If in 2014 and 2015 it was Modi wave this wave is missing this time. Yes, miracles do take place during the elections, whether the Assembly or the Parliamentary and if Modi wins hands down it will be a miracle.
Another issue that is going to be a point of battle between the two sides is the EVM. Well EVM was used during the Congress rule and in the recent Assembly elections in four states the BJP lost is chin and hence the Congress cannot blame the Government for EVM fraud. The Kashmir issue, human rights violations in Kashmir and the role of Pakistan in pushing groups of militants for raising the level of violence. Well the opposition may come forward with the figures on the number of encounters and killing of militants and civilians and the Government too is ready to counter this issue. Well the incidents of violence including the number of encounters between the militants and the security forces topped in 2018 when out of 22 districts these encounters took place in 12 districts that too in south Kashmir areas. Apart from this the opposition may demand figures on the number of ceasefire violations.
Apart from this the grand alliance may demand figures of local militants being imparted arms training in the hilly camps. And the brother of one IPS officer, who was shot dead in encounter, belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen. This indicates that educated youth and the youth belonging to well off families have joined militant oufits. This indicates that poverty is no substitute for violence in Kashmir. Initially it was presumed that those militants who need money join militant outfits and draw monetary help. Things have changed when educated youth, in the absence of jobs, want to get some monetary benefits from throwing a handgrenade, or joing groups of militants ready for encounter. These are some of the issues. And the highlight is the issue of Rafle deal and the fighter planes got from Russia. These are the main issues and the role India played in winning super powers, Yes, Modi has succeeded in winning the support from the US, Russia, Germany, France, Japan and other European nations but its failure to woo China could be the handle to strike by the opposition.
