PDD spares big sharks: Tariff worth crores outstanding with Kathua stone crushers

Jammu, Mar 9: The Power Development Department (PDD) which shows tough stance against common masses for their failure to pay meagre bills but the big sharks like stone crusher operators, which runs in several lakh of rupees.
In response to RTI application filed in the office of Assistant Executive Engineer Electrical M&RE Sub Division Kathua, a list of 49 stone crushers and their outstanding bills till ending 2018 has been furnished.
As per the list, M/S Rudra stone crusher has outstanding power bill of Rs. 32.71 Lakhs, M/S B&V stone crusher Rs. 31.35 Lakhs, M/S Satya Sai Stone crusher has outstanding power bill of 26.41 Lakhs, Shiv Baba Rs. 24.77 Lakhs, Jai Shree Rs. 24.97 Lakhs, Jai Maa Rs. 21.05 Lakhs outstanding bills.
Moreover, Bawa Peer Stone crusher has outstanding power bill of Rs. 19.68 Lakhs, Swaraj Enterprises Rs. 14.10 Lakhs, Krishna Stone Rs. 11.21 Lakhs, RK Stone crusher Rs. 11.77 Lakhs, PP Screen Rs. 13.76 Lakhs, Kalyani stone Rs. 15.04, KS Enterprises Rs. 19.40 Lakhs, Om Stone Rs. 12.37 Lakhs, Shree Ganesh Rs. 16.22 Lakhs, Puri Stone Rs. 11.08 Lakhs, Sant Enterprises Rs. 10.85 Lakhs, sherr Sai Baba Screener Rs. 16.26 Lakhs.

The crusher operators have strong political and administrative links and usually didn't care about the lower rung officials of the Power Development department. "The department officials usually didn't attempt to snap their power connections as the crusher operators get in restores on their own and they give power bills as per their choice", an official said, adding that department must take strong cognizance of the matter and realize the amount, which would ultimately benefit the department and delaying the bills cost heavy to the department.
