No assembly elections turn birthday boy into crybaby!
3/11/2019 11:38:28 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 11: The birthday celebrations of a senior leader of the National Conference suddenly took a twist on March 10 when the Election Commission of India said that simultaneous Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir would not be held for now due to security concerns.
The Chief Election Officer of Jammu and Kashmir Shailendra Kumar said that simultaneous assembly and parliamentary elections are "not possible" in the state "due to security concerns."
"Unlike the parliament elections, the assembly elections require more security set up and the present situation does not favor holding of simultaneous polls," he told reporters here, soon after the election commission of India announced the dates for the LokSabha elections.
The statement came on the day when the said senior NC leader was celebrating his birthday.
Sources said the leader who had allegedly been in touch with some of the BJP leaders had been optimistic that the Assembly elections would be held simultaneously and thus it would add to his birthday celebrations.
Sources said the party was looking ahead to get back power if the Assembly elections were held soon.
"In the past our party several times managed to win due to poll boycott and given the uneasy situation in Kashmir we're looking ahead to get same benefit this time also but our dreams are dashed," said a source quoting a NC leader.
Sources said for the past few days the NC leaders had been trying to appease the BJP leadership in New Delhi.
But the moment it was clarified that no Assembly elections would be held for now, one of the top NC leaders started behaving like a "crybaby." All of a sudden he started tweeting against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janta Party.
For the past several years the NC is accused of gaining mileage from poll boycott in Kashmir.
Despite repeated attempts, the NC leadership couldn't be contacted for comments.
