GoI makes Kashmiri centric politicians 'beg' for LA polls
NC trying to prove its 'nationalist' character, others cornered

Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 13: National Conference is trying its best to convince the Centre that it should hold the Assembly elections in the state along with the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
On Wednesday NC vice-president Omar Abdullah made a desperate attempt to seek the attention of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi by urging him to hold the LA polls in the state. "Dear @narendramodi Sahib, it is good to see you appealing to famous people to increase voter turnout however at the same time your government has consciously disenfranchised people in J&K by not holding Assembly elections on time," Omar said in a tweet.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said that NC is literally "begging for polls." "NC leaders have started believing that if assembly elections are held along with the parliamentary polls it would prove beneficial for the party. NC leaders want to encash upon the anti-PDP wave and somehow regain the seats which the party had lost in 2014 assembly elections. NC somehow wants to regain the power," he added.
An insider said that some NC leaders have got it conveyed to the BJP top brass that NC has always stood with New Delhi and if it gets the power back it would ensure that antinational elements are dealt with an iron fist. "At present people in New Delhi are in no mood to listen to any of the theories being put forward by the Kashmir centric parties as the people sitting in power corridors are fed up of the Kashmiri politicians, who during all these years have done nothing to tackle the separatists and the Pakistan stooges active in the Valley," the insider added.
A Kashmir watcher said, "If Government of India decides to hold the assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir at this juncture it would mean handing over the reins of the state to the failed politicians again. The GoI should wait for Lok Sabha polls to get over and then decide about J&K. War against terror has just started and one cannot expect a local Kashmiri leader to carry it forward with the same vigour and enthusiasm. First priority of GoI at this point of time should be to tackle the terrorists and their sympathizers. At present Kashmir centric politicians fit nowhere in the scheme of things and they should be kept at bay to end terrorism and anti-nationalism in the Valley."
