RBI conducts awareness programme at SPMR College

JAMMU, Mar 28: The Office of Banking Ombudsman, Reserve Bank of India in collaboration with Government SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu, conducted an awareness programme on Banking Ombudsman Scheme and Ombudsman Scheme for Digital Transactions here today.
The programme was presided over by P. Shimrah, Banking Ombudsman and Ombudsman for Digital Transactions for Jammu & Kashmir, who enlightened the faculty and students about the basic principles of financial planning, particularly financial literacy, budget planning, planned and wise spending, financial freedom and investment.
Further, H.S. Verma, Secretary Office of Banking Ombudsman and Ombudsman for Digital Transactions educated the participants about the importance of Banking Ombudsman Scheme for resolving banking complaints.
He further stated that the Banking Ombudsman Scheme is free, fast, fair and effective mechanism. He also advised the audience to keep a watch on SMS for all the activities in their bank accounts and report immediately to the bank if any unauthorised transaction takes place.
He urged the participants to be vigilant while using online banking, ATM and not to reveal Pin/OTP to anybody.
Prof. (Dr.) Anil Gupta, Principal host college, highlighted the importance of conducting such awareness programmes and advised students to be cautious while operating their banking transactions.
