Sarpanches stage protest against DC Kishtwar; demand his transfer

kishtwar, Mar 28: In yet another controversy involving Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana, who happens to be a close confident of MoS PMO Dr. Jitendra Singh Rana, today allegedly heckled Sarpanch from Lopara A Panchayat of Dachhan Block when he visited his office with public grievances triggering huge protest from the Sarpanchs.
As per the details available with ET, the Sarpanches from various areas of Kishtwar District today held a strong protest against the heckling and manhandling of Sarpanch Babu Lal by DC in his chamber when the Sarpanch along with a public deputation called on him with some local issues.
As per the details, DC Kishtwar who is known for losing his cool allegedly pounced upon the Sarpanch in full public, beside abusing him and later called his PSOs who allegedly dragged the Sarpanch to adjoining room where DC Kishtwar and his PSOs beat him, trained the guns at him before the other people present at the spot intervened and ensured the release of the Sarpanch from the clutches of DC's PSOs.
Following the incident, the Sarpanchs from Various areas of Kishtwar District assembled inside DC office complex Kishtwar and blocked Kishtwar-Padder road for hours demanding immediate transfer of DC Kishtwar, beside registration of an FIR against him and his PSOs.
The angry Sarpanchs said that in case the Government and Chief Electoral Officer J &K did not remove politically backed DC Kishtwar who happens close to MOS PMO Dr. Jitendra Singh Rana contesting election on Kathua-Udhampu-Doda-Kishtwar Parliamentary seat, they will boycott the upcoming parliament Elections.
Senior leaders from NC and Congress party including Youth NC President Farooq Ahmed Dev and Congress candidate from Kishtwar Constituency Raj Kumar Badyal also joined the angry Sarpanchs in protest and unanimously demanded immediate transfer of DC Kishtwar without any further delay.
Later, angry Sarpanchs held a protest march towards Kishtwar town and also held a strong protest against him at ever busy Dak Banglow chowk before senior police officers intervened.
Speaking to ET, Dy. SP HQ Kishtwar confirmed that police had admitted the application submitted by the Sarpanch Babu Lal against DC Kishtwar and his PSOs added that the matter will be investigated as per the law.
The angry Sarpanchs told ET that the Governor Satya Pal Malik must intervene into the matter to prove his commitment that Sarpanchs will get due protocol whenever they visited government offices.
