Early Times Report
anantnag, Mar 28: Brazenly violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), the tribal affairs department has asked its director to submit Detailed Project Reports for establishing model villages in Dooru constituency of South Kashmir's Anantnag district.
On 14th of March this year, exactly four days after the Model Code of Conduct came into force in the entire country, Assistant Director (P&S), Department of Tribal affairs, wrote a letter to Director Tribal Affairs Jammu and asked him to submit Detailed Project Reports for establishing model villages.
"Kindly refer to the subject cite above, I am directed to enclose herewith a copy of representation received from the inhabitants of Gujjar Patti area of district Anantnag regarding the up-gradation of Village Hingipora, Ringmundoo, Gamdouru Hargows, Gujjat Patti area into cluster tribal model village under SCA to TSS with the request to kindly examine the demand and submit a Detailed Project Report to this department for proceeding further in the matter accordingly," reads the letter, a copy of which lies with Early Times.
According to sources, the Tribal Department not only violated the Model Code of Conduct by initiating a fresh program but also deliberately leaked the official letter to a politician who circulated it widely through social media sites including Facebook.
"This politician is visiting the villages and seeking votes from the villagers by making them believe that because of his efforts model villages will be established," they claimed.
