BJP sarpanch, sons booked for beating lady after his son ‘raped’ her

Jammu, Apr 8: The police today booked BJP Sarpanch from Nagsini block of Kishtwar district along with his son's after he and his sons beat, tortured and abused a lady (name withheld) after his one of his sons committed rape on her. Reports said the rape victim alleged that she was kidnapped by the accused Ajay Kumar Shan son of Om Prakash Shan resident of Pullar Kishtwar while she was on her way home. She stated that after kidnapping her, the accused took her to his home on the pretext that he would marry with her after his family rejected the proposal citing caste reasons.
She said that after taking her to his home, the accused Ajay Kumar Shan repeatedly raped her for five days. She said that after committing the crime, the accused threatened to kill her in case she narrated the story to her family members. She said that the accused in order to hide his criminal face involved his family members added that his father and brothers also subjected her to torture, abused her and beat her before throwing her out of the house.
She said that after escaping from the clutches of the accused and his family, she reached her home where she narrated the whole incident to her parents who later accompanied her and registered an FIR against the accused, his father and his brother.
The victim family alleged that some BJP leaders are putting pressure on police to strike deal with the victims family instead of registration the FIR.
They said that after their strong resentment, police today finally registered FIR No. 64/2019 Dated 6-4-2019 against accused Ajay Kumar Shan, his father Om Prakash, his brothers Akshay Kumar Shan, Rahul Shan and Danny Shan under section 376, 366, 341, 323, 506 RPC and 457, 109 RPC.
However no arrest has been made so far. The FIR was registered by the police only after CJM Kishtwar issued directions U/S 156(3) CrPC.
