| The statue of unity is a good development but what about peoples' unity which is the need of the hour. The statue of unity is dedicated to the first home minister of free India and to one who is called Iron man of India. It was the Sardar Patel who integrated many states and united these with modern India. It is a great feat of free India whose credit wholly goes to Sardar Vallabhai Patel who integrated princely states in India and it is the great achievement of patel and is written with golden letters in independent India's history. The fact is that while Patel integrated 560 princely states in India but Nehru failed to integrate Jammu and Kashmir with India fully and gave it a special position and took the matter of Kashmir to UNO and this is the big blunder of pt. Nehru - the first PM of the independent India. The ill effects of this narrow decision, people are reaping even today and Kashmir has become a festering wound thanks to the ill conceived decision of Nehru and now the NDA government of Narendra Modi has reversed the special provision and status granted to this border state by virtue of repealing article 370 of the Indian constitution and bifurcation of the state into two union territories of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh. Whatever it be the construction of the statue of unity is a welcome development and dedicating the biggest statue of the world to this great man and his theme and unity endeavor is a befitting tribute to him. The ceremonial unity moves are not needed but what is required is unity and harmony among the people of India and in this mission we are wanting.
Therefore we should pay great attention towards unity and harmony among different sections and religious communities as a priority. For flourishing of the unity in diversity, efforts should be made to foster unity and harmony among various sections of the society. Thus instead of customary celebrations for the cause of unity, it is important to usher unity in the diverse social fabric and for this the government and NGOs as well as people of the country should make sincere efforts. It is a sorry state of affairs and very unfortunate that mob lynching and violence is taking place in the country and this is happening in 21 st century India and we should hang our heads in shame over this issue. The mob violence and mob lynching has no place in modern India and in our progressive society on whatsoever pretext. Mob lynching and mob violence cannot be justified on any reasons.
There should be communal amity and unity and brotherhood in our diverse society and for this all of us should make sincere efforts otherwise we can claim to be a modern and progressive democracy. Government should enact stringent laws and also implement these so that rule of law will rein supreme so that this violence is given a good bye once for all. Harsh punishment should be given to the law violators and those who indulge in mob lynching. The unfortunate cases of mob lynching and mob violence are happening in different parts of India and it is a sadistic pleasure which the law violators and the brutes are taking from these acts of violence. There should be no violence and social strife in the volatile and a diverse society but there should be social cohesion and unity in the society for which all people and government has the responsibility and we should fulfill our responsibility in this regard. People should not be allowed to take law into their hands and rule of law should been enforced and there should be fear of law. The law enforcing agencies should implement law for protecting communal amity and societal harmony. Thus more than the formal celebrations of unity, we should ensure unity in the society and not allow anyone to disturb communal harmony and unity. Thus more than statue of unity it is more important to work for the real and actual unity in the heterogeneous society and this can be done if all of us and the government works in this direction and this will be the true and befitting tribute to the man of unity-Sardar Patel and his thought and philosophy and to unity at large which is the pressing need of the day. |
