Early Times Report

Srinagar, Nov 2: Students who are undergoing annual higher secondary board exams are suffering to reach their exam center across the valley as there is lack of public transport in the region. The exam of Class 10th and 12th commenced last week.
Mudasir, 10th class student while talking to Early Times said, "I have to leave my home almost two to three hours early before the exam begins. It is very tough to reach exam centre with little or no public transport available".
Public transport has been mainly off from the roads since August 5, the day centre abrogated Article 370, special status of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcate the region into two separate Union Territories. While as, little transport mover here to there in some civil line areas. However, students continue to suffer.
"I live on the outskirts of the Srinagar city and my exam centre is almost 10 kilo meters away from my home. So I have to ask for lift and have to walk even few kilometers as there is no sign of public transport", said Majid, a student.
He added that not everyone has their private transport and these auto rickshaw drive charges more than enough. Yes the government has provided Transport Road Corporation (TRC) buses, but they are very less in numbers and more buses should be provided.
Not only student, parents are also suffering as they accompany with their wards to the exam centre.
I cannot let my daughter to go for the exam centre in such condition. Her exam center is too far and there is no transport. So I accompany her to the centre. It was her second paper today, we asked our neighbor to drop us, which was quite embarrassing, said a parent.
She added that administration should provide more buses to the students and parents so that they reach to the exam centre on time without any trouble and mess.
