Announces Rs 13 crore to boost development, Vehicle for every Tehsildar | Lieutenant Guv visits Anantnag, reviews developmental scenario | | Early Times Report anantnag, Nov 2: Underscoring the need for attending the public issues, the Lt. Governor Mr. GC Murmu on Saturday announced Rupees 13 crore to boost the developmental scenario of South Kashmir's Anantnag district. Addressing a meeting of officers at Dak Banglow Khanabal, Lt. Governor GC Murmu underlined the importance of strengthening grievance redressal mechanism and providing transparent and accountable administration to the people. Chief Secretary Mr BVR Subrahmanyam accompanied the Lt Governor during his maiden visit to Anantnag. Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, IGP Kashmir, SP Pani, DIG South Kashmir besides district and sectoral officers attended the meeting. Reviewing the development scenario, he called for taking priority projects in convergence mode for efficient utilization of the resources available under different schemes and programmes of the government. GC Murmu also called for focussed attention to establish relief and rescue centres along the disaster prone stretches of national highway ahead of winters. He said all the basic facilities should be ensured in the disaster centres to facilitate the travellers and transporters during winters. Lt. Governor announced Rs 13 crore for boosting development in the district. Of the amount, Rs 8 crore will be spent on the expeditious completion of upcoming Rehmati Aalam hospital and Rs 5 crore as additionality for execution of the works taken under back to village programme. He also announced sanctioning of vehicles for mobility of all Tehsildars of the district besides agreeing to the proposal of DC Anantang regarding establishing district level youth hostel and up-gradation of existing NTPHC at Pahalgam. Earlier, while highlighting the achievements of the district, the DDC through a power point presentation gave an overview of the development profile of the district and brought to the attention of the Lt. Governor key issues and bottlenecks hampering various important projects. He also briefed the meeting about status of the projects funded by JKIFDC under languishing programmes. He said that 113 projects worth Rs270.11 crore are under execution which include water, R & B, shopping complex, health, etc. The DDC said that 141 habitations have been covered under PMGSY with the completion of 172 road communication schemes. He said that Anantnag district tops in the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat in the whole country and in implementation of E-PDS, the performance of the district is on top within Jammu & Kashmir. He said nearly 6000 students besides traders, contractors and government departments have availed internet facility at dc office. He said the MIS scheme has successfully operated in the district, adding 3222 MTs of apple fruit has been procured from across the district so far. DDC said that a well-knit contingency plan for winter preparedness has been put in place to tackle winter challenges. All the men and machinery has been readied to effectively tide over the vagaries of weather during the winters. Deputy Commissioner made out a strong case for construction of new dc office cum mini secretariat for which he sought liberal funding. SSP Anantnag Altaf Ahmad Khan also gave power point presentation focussing on the law order scenario of the district. |
