JMC installed decontamination, sanitizing tunnel at GMC

Jammu, Apr 6: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has installed a Decontamination and Sanitizing Tunnel at Govt. Medical College, Jammu in view of the current situation regarding possible spread of Covid 19, to stop the spread of corona virus by disinfecting the visitors.
The Decontamination and Sanitizing Tunnel installed in presence of Mayor, JMC, Chander Mohan Gupta, Dy. Mayor, Purnima Sharma, Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education Department, Atal Dulloo, Principal Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department, Dheeraj Gupta, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Avny Lavasa and Principal, Govt. Medical College, Dr. Sunanda Raina. While entering the tunnel the disinfectant spray will shower on the visitors and will help to reduce the chances of spreading Corona Virus. Besides, the Disinfectant Tunnel will also be very helpful for Doctors and para medical staff, even stretchers, wheel chairs are also sanitized, as extra pipe has been fixed for disinfecting the medical equipments.
The Disinfectant Tunnel is made of galvanized iron pipes by using 32 MM and 24 MM more than 100 Kgs for stability and to create robust model. 1000 liters tank used with heavy angle iron stand for stability, 6 must nozzles with expandable upon 18 nozzles as per requirement provision is already in place.
Besides, water proof electric panel for easy management, iron sheets fabricated for extra protection against the unpredictable weather is also in place. Special flooring provision for sanitizing shoes soles and LED illumination has been provided especially for night.
The Commissioner, JMC stated that such kinds of Decontamination & Sanitizing Tunnels shall also be established at the entry points of all hospitals, quarantine cetnres, red zones and wherever required to minimizing the chances of spread of Corona Virus. She further added that it was very difficult to establish the Disinfect Tunnel due to lockdown, as the required material was not easily available but due to dedication and determined efforts of staff of JMC the said Disinfectant Tunnel is established at Govt. Medical College, Jammu.
