Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 6: Municipality workers like members of the medical fraternity are at the forefront of fighting the war against COVID-19 in Kishtwar District. These workers are putting their lives at stake to keep the people safe and ensure that the areas remain disinfected.
As per the details available with Early Times, the employees of Municipal Council Kishtwar are working hard to conduct the disinfection drive in Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas.
Since the outbreak of COVID 19 pandemic, the ground staff of Kishtwar Municipality has effectively carried out several rounds of disinfection drive which include spraying and fumigation in all the 13 wards of Kishtwar Municipality.
The drive was launched with active support of Kishtwar administration, police and elected counselors of Kishtwar Municipality under the leadership of its President Raiz Ahmed Zargar.
Zargar while talking to Early Times hailed the efforts of frontline workers of Kishtwar Municipality and the role being played by them in the fight against COVID-19.
Zargar said the responsibility on the frontline staff of Kishtwar Municipality has increased immensely due to the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic. “The staff is playing a key role in these testing times. They are shouldering all the responsibilities which are being given to them,” he added.
Zargar said that the disinfection drive by Municipality staff was started from hospitals, public places and in general areas of Kishtwar. “Beside fumigation drive and spraying was also carried out in mosques before government announced a lockdown,” he added.
He said as doctors and paramedics are playing their part in dealing with the Coronavirus pandemic, similarly Municipality staff are also playing their part and their role cannot be undermined.
He said the Municipal staff is also visiting the homes of those persons who have died during lockdown period and are regularly carrying out fumigation and disinfection drive as a precautionary measure. He said this drive will continue till the COVID-19 is defeated.
