Early Times Report

Anantnag, Apr 6: The authorities in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district have shifted at least 1300 non-local laborers to school buildings for providing them better facilities during the ongoing lockdown.
As per reports, the administration has shifted the non-local laborers to designated relief camps (school buildings) after reports related to non-availability of food and other essential items appeared.
“We were receiving reports that the non-local laborers and others were facing shortage of food and other essential supplies therefore it was decided to shift them to relief camps so that they can be provided adequate food and taken care of,” an officer, posted in Anantnag told Early Times.
As per details, so far, the district administration has shifted 1381 non-local laborers to designated relief camps. Nearly 113 non-local laborers have been shifted to Higher Secondary School Kokernag, 200 to Government High School Mattan, 140 to Government High School Achabal, 29 to government Degree College Levdora Qazigund, 160 to JNV Aishmuqam, 200 to GHSS Bijbehara, 245 to GHSS Srigufwara, 110 to Degree College Dooru and 184 to Degree College Utrsaoo.
Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Dar told Early Times that the non-local laborers will be provided food and other facilities during their stay in these camps.
Earlier, the district administration provided food packets to these non-local laborers and their families; however a large number among them staying and working in far-off areas hadn’t received it. Later the administration carried out a survey and now shifted them to designated places.
Non-local laborers, who had arrived in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district to earn their livelihood, have also been shifted in some government buildings designated by the administration as relief camps.
