4/12/2020 11:57:20 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 12: In the middle of a total lockdown, a woman gave birth to a baby in a police van in Jammu. The incident took place in the Channi Himmat area of Jammu. “We received a call and our team under the supervision of SHO Channi Mr Pervaiz responded. The woman was taken in the van but as destiny would have it she delivered the child in the van only,” said Vinay Sharma, SP South Jammu.
During the intervening night of April 11, the call was received from PCR Jammu that a woman named Sonia Devi, resident of UP but living in Channi Himmat in Jammu is pregnant and was suffering labour pain. Due to the lockdown, there was no means of transport to reach the hospital. They contacted the police control room which in turn informed the local police. The police team reasoned swiftly and took the woman to the hospital in a police van. But on the way to the hospital, the lady gave birth to a baby. After giving first aid to her, she was sent back to her home. “Our men are out there to help the locals in case of such emergencies. Many such emergencies are being taken care of on a daily basis”, said a senior officer in the administration.
The government has been assuring people of help and inform the authorities in case of such emergencies.
