With 21 fresh cases positive cases of Corona Virus reach 245 in JK

SRINAGAR, Apr 12: The positive cases of Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 245 today as 21 more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the union territory. The cases were reported from different districts of the union territory. Reports said that 17 cases were reported from Kashmir division and four cases were reported from the Jammu division. From Kashmir fresh cases were reported from Kupwara (8 cases), Baramulla (four cases), Ganderbal (three cases) and one each from Bandipora and Kulgam districts respectively. For the second consecutive day no case was reported from Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir.
The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin said that 21 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), four from Jammu and 17 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 245.
“Out of 245 positive cases, 235 are active positive, six have recovered and four have died. Furthermore, till date 51,320 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been put under surveillance which includes 9,153 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 433 in Hospital Quarantine, 235 in hospital isolation and 29,718 under home surveillance,” the bulletin said.
The bulletin said that 11,777 persons have completed their 28-day surveillance period adding that 3,355 samples have turned out to be negative till April 12, 2020. Providing district-wise breakup, the bulletin said that Srinagar has 58 positive cases wherein 56 are active positive, one recovered and one has died, Bandipora 42 positive cases with 39 active positive, two recovered and one died.
The bulletin said that Baramulla 37 positive cases with 36 active positive, one died, Budgam 11 positive cases all of whom are active positive, Pulwama three positive cases-all active positive, Shopian and Kupwara with 14 and 23 positive cases respectively and all are active positive and Ganderbal and Kulgam with five and four positive cases respectively all of whom are active positive.
Similarly, Jammu has 21 positive cases of whom 19 are active positive and two have recovered, Udhampur 19 positive cases of which 18 are active positive, one died, while as Rajouri and Samba have three and four positive cases respectively and all are active positive and the single positive case has recovered fully in Kishtwar district. The bulletin said that the breakup represents districts from which the patients have been traced or are ordinarily residing.
Meanwhile, according to the advisory issued in the media bulletin, the general public has been urged to stay indoors, strictly implement social distancing measures, disclose recent travel history to COVID-19 affected countries and report any contact with positive cases voluntarily. People have been advised to take care of their well being and mental health during the lockdown.
“Write down the thoughts, listen to favourite music & songs, reach out to friends through phone calls or online, work on passion or hobbies in households and avoid excessive exposure to COVID-19 related news that may be upsetting. The general public is advised to avoid unnecessary visit to hospitals, in case anyone develops fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, seek medical advice promptly by calling on COVID-19 helpline numbers so that they can be provided correct medical advice and directed to the right health facility, if needed,” said the bulletin.
