Executive Officer MC Achabal suspended for dereliction of duties

ANANTNAG, Apr 18: Deputy Magistrate Anantnag on Saturday suspended Executive Officer Municipal Committee Achabal for dereliction of duties.
“Keeping in view the serious misconduct and lapse on part of the officer vis-à-vis of his official duties, Shri Abdul Majeed Haji, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Achabal, is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect. He shall remain attached with the office of Assistant Commissioner Revenue Anantnag,” reads the order issued by Additional District Magistrate Anantnag.
The administrator of the Red Zone-Nowgam Shangus- Divisional Forest Officer Anantnag, Feroz Ahmad Chatak, vide his communication No. ADM/RDN/2020-21/05-06 dated 18-04-2020 had reported that the Executive Officer Municipal Committee Achabal isn’t adhering to the instructions as per the SOP defined by the Jammu and Kashmir Government through order No. 38-JK(DMRRR of 2020 dated 14-04-2020, according to which the areas the municipal body had to sanitize the area twice a day and carry out fumigation of vehicles entering into the area.
The officer has also reported that the Executive Officer Municipal Committee Achabal has also violated all the norms and guidelines covering the disaster Management and urgency of sanitation in view of the pandemic of COVID-19.
The administrator of the Red Zone recommended action against the officer and forwarded the case to Deputy Commissioner Anantnag.
According to reports, the officer wasn’t not only violating norms and guidelines but had ‘arrogant’ attitude towards the district administration and officers currently looking after COVID-19 control room and efforts.
“He wasn’t even available to district administration on phone and his behavior towards the senior officers was also disgusting,” an officer told Early Times, however wished not to be named.
He said that the officer not only refused to sanitize the area but had also gone missing for two days.
This evening, District Magistrate Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Dar placed him under suspension.
