Early Times Report

Kishtwar, Apr 18: Two engineers of Public Health Engineering Department, who had gone on a leave, and stayed in Jammu for a week, rejoined their duties in this hilly district without being put under mandatory quarantine, sources told Early Times on Saturday.
This is the 2nd major goof up in past few days when Kishtwar Administration ignored the 2-day visit of Chief Medical Officer Kishtwar to Jammu and allowed up him to join the duties without following the protocol. According to the details available with this newspaper, Executive Engineer Hydraulic Division Kishtwar along with Assistant Executive Engineer PHE Sub Division Dachhan went to Jammu last week and stayed at Channi Himaat for nearly a week. Till date Jammu district has reported more than 50 COVID-19 positive cases.
Both the engineers, according to the sources, arrived in Kishtwar on 16 April and next day attended their respective offices.
“Matter was brought into the notice of senior officials and they were informed that they have visited the COVID-19 affected district, but seniors didn’t pay much attention towards the issue,” sources added.
“Senior officials have to take a final call on who to be put under quarantine and who has to be spared. We only follow instructions from them,” said a member of the enforcement team.
He said that even though they are hopeful that the CMO, the Xen and the AEE will be fine but they were quick to add that following protocol is important.
Meanwhile, 27 persons who had a travel history and were put into administrative quarantine at different facilities in Kishtwar were sent home on Saturday after they completed the 14-day isolation period. Assistant Commissioner Revenue ,Dr Amir Hussain and Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kishtwar Dr Parvez Iqbal Wani along with other doctors and medical staff were present on the occasion.
The discharged persons were briefed about the various SOPs and guidelines to prevent themselves and their families from the COVID-19 besides they were asked to follow social distancing , resort to frequent washing of their hands with soaps and wear masks.
They were also asked to download the Aarogya Setu App to keep themselves updated about the risks posed by the Coronavirus.
