EARLY TIMES REPORT

POONCH, Apr 18: Although lockdown period is approaching towards its completion of one month but yet there are many areas in border districts, which are still out of government’s relief due to lackadaisical attitude of the concerned district administrations.
A large number of residents from Rajouri, Poonch, Samba and Jammu districts, are still far away from the masks, sanitizing material facilities which were promised by the concerned administrations.
The residents alleged that various social organizations came forward to help them but concerned administrations remained elusive during this period. “We have been facing acute shortage of rations and other essential commodities. Many of us got scarce ration, which can be utilized only for few days and then didn’t get any relief, throwing us on the verge of starvation,” they alleged further adding that only half a kg of ration is being provided to the families insufficient for sustenance.
They further said that the most affected areas, which have been facing shortage of essential commodities during lockdown including Nowshera, Rajouri, RS Pura and Samba where administration hardly seems to reach.
“At least one month ration should be given to the each family living in border area,” they said further adding that crops are ready to be harvested but there is no arrangement for harvesting.
ADC Nowshera, Sukhdev Singh, when contacted, said that they had covered almost every part of the Nowshera area particularly the villages at Line of Control. He further said that they would continue to extend help to the people.
