BARAMULLA, Apr 18: Three CRPF troopers were martyred and two others suffered injuries in a militant attack in Sopore town of this north Kashmir district on Saturday. A senior police official told Early Times that suspected militants opened fire on a joint naka party of CRPF 179 bn and Police at Noorbagh near Ahad Bab’s crossing today, and in the incident, five paramilitary troopers’ sustained injuries.
The injured were evacuated to nearby SDH hospital where two CRPF men were declared brought dead on arrival and another succumbed later, the police official said.
The police official said that the militants attacked a CRPF vehicle on duty at Sopore town; routinely they were doing their duty in Sopore.
So for three troopers have been identified as Rajeev Sharma, HC GD 015202662 s/o Sri Prem Chand Sharma, NoK Anju Sharma, r/o Rasulpur, Sain Vaishali Bihar, CT GD C B Bhakare 041639015 s/o Bhagwantrao Bhakare NoK Manisha (wife) r/o Vill Paturda (BK) PC Sangrampur, District Buldhana state Mahrashtra, Vill Paturda (BK) PO Sangrampur, C T GD Parmar Satyapal Singh 145250539 s/o Bachusinh NoK Bachusinh (Father) r/o Vill Zalani Muvadipo, Khari Amarapurthe the Prantij District, Sabarkantha, Gujarat villa Zalani.
However, sources said that, fourth one has also succumbed but officials have not confirmed yet, but once we will come to know the details will be shared with you.
Two troopers have also been injured and they were identified as HC Bishwajeet Ghosh & CT/DVR Javed Lone.
All the injured were immediately shifted to the nearby hospital, after which they were evacuated to army hospital in Srinagar.
CRPF troopers were lying in a pool of blood, and the naka party also made retaliation but in due course, the assailants fled from the scene of crime.
The official said that police has registered a case and officers are investigating the circumstances of this incident.
Soon after the incident, security forces including army, police, SOG and CRPF launched search operation in the area to nab the assailants, said sources.
Meanwhile, according to reports that an army soldier died and a porter injured today after they slipped from a mountain in Uri area of Baramulla district.
Sources said the duo slipped near a forward post in Lachipora Boniyar Uri amid inclement weather.
After strenuous searches, they said, the body of 35-year-old soldier NK Uttam Singh of army’s 11 MAHAR was recovered while the porter was found in injured condition. He was later removed to a hospital, said sources.
