No one is virus-proof
4/19/2020 10:43:52 PM
Soon after the COVID-19 pandemic took the world by storm, the World Health Organization issued some guidelines, which everyone had to follow.
The instructions given by the WHO included maintaining social distance, putting people, who visit the COVID-19 affected areas, under quarantine and very importantly the WHO asked everyone to stay at home.
Common man to a great extent followed the guidelines but the VIPs and the ones who believe that they are "virus proof" didn't pay much heed towards the protocol which was set.
Since the day Government of India (GoI) announced a lockdown, a few so-called leaders and political activists turned philanthropists and started appearing everywhere at the pretext of helping the needy. In the beginning everyone appreciated their move but soon after they started uploading videoclips and photographs of the relief work on the social media. They even got their pictures published in newspapers. More than social work their idea of philanthropy turned out to be a publicity stunt. And it shocked everyone.
On the other hand a few officials, who assumed that COVID-19 won't affect them, without following the protocol entered into the COVID-19 affected zones and after their return from such areas rejoined their duties.
Violation of the WHO guidelines by the influential people is making common man believe that all the rules are for general public. The people who enjoy some clout should stop taking COVID-19 lightly and look at the countries where its has wreaked havoc. It didn't spare the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, and the members of the royal family in Britain. So no one should expect that COVID-19 will spare them.
It's high time for all of us to realize the gravity of the situation rather than thinking that nothing will happen. So, let's become practical and see things in a larger perspective. This is not the time to glorify ourselves and bask in the sun. We can't just ignore what the government is saying. We remained in lockdown for 21-days in the first phase. At present we are into the second phase of the nationwide lockdown. The COVID-19 is a contagious virus which gets transmitted from one human being to another and leads to the formation of a chain. It affects the person without asking him/her whether he is a VIP or a top officer. Need of the hour is to follow the protocol and the guidelines and the ones who violate it should be dealt according to the law of the land.
