SRINAGAR, Apr 19: The wreath-laying ceremony of the three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel who lost their lives in the Sopore militant attack yesterday was held here on Sunday, senior officials paid floral tributes to the three brave hearts.
Inspector General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Rajesh Yadav on Sunday said that all security agencies are working the leads about the group responsible for Saturday’s attacked that left three CRPF men dead and revenge will be taken soon. On the side-lines of wreath laying ceremony at Humhama here, the IG CRPF Kashmir (for operations) said that CRPF has been enforcing strict lockdown across Kashmir and yesterday, CRPF men of 179 battalion were on ground to the same job.
“Lockdown is being enforced across Kashmir and our boys are busy in that besides fighting militancy. Yesterday, I along with the IGP Kashmir (Vijay Kumar) went to the site of incident at Sopore,” he said. He said security agencies are working on some leads about those behind the attack, jointly and very soon revenge will be taken, those responsible for the attack will be taken to task soon,” the IG said.
Top security officials from CRPF and Police visited Sopore today to take stock of the situation where the militants had carried an attack on CRPF near Ahad Bab crossing, in which three CRPF lost their lives and two got injured. The two CRPF personnel injured in a militant attack at Sopore in Baramulla district on Saturday evening have gone through a surgery and are now stated to be stable. Head Constable Biswajit Ghosh and Constable Javid Ahmed, who suffered multiple injuries, however, are still in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the 92-Base Hospital.
They suffered injuries after a militant attacked a joint naka party of CRPF and Police at security checkpoint at Sopore killing three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers. The CRPF personnel of the 179 Battallion on the paramilitary force were part of a joint security team manning a checkpoint in Sopore town when the assailant fired upon them and fled from the scene of crime.
The three CRPF men died on the spot while the other two suffered multiple injuries and were evacuated to hospital, both are stable now.
