Early Times Report

JAMMU, Apr 19: Kashmiri businessman, who has been booked by Jammu and Kashmir Police for unlawfully escaping from Covid Red Zone in Bhatindi in Jammu was accompanied by over one dozen "influential" persons.
Official sources told Early Times that police are investigating input that the Kashmiri businessman who could be a Covid suspect had fled from the sealed area along with others in more than one cars.
Sources said the police have decided to take CCTV footage of the national highway and the route which the businessman took to reach Srinagar.
It was reliably learnt that the businessman who has been seen close to all the previously ruling parties in Jammu and Kashmir from time to time travelled with many of the people known to him personally.
Sources said the Jammu police have received inputs that the businessman had made such foolproof arrangements for the travel that his vehicle was even not stopped at the Quarantine facility at lower munda in Kashmir.
Sources said police are probing that businessman, who could be a suspected covid case as he was in Red Zone Bhatindi, has not only risked lives of others by traveling to Kashmir but has also violated Disaster Management Act.
"If proven guilty he can face jail for around two years," said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
The Senior Superintendent of Police Shridhar Patil has been earning appreciation from across the Jammu and Kashmir for initiating strict action against the "VIP" culture.
It is pertinent to mention that Jammu police have already filed a case against the businessman under relevant laws.
But administration in Kashmir seems to be allegedly soft on him. Despite repeated attempts, the businessman couldn't be contacted for comments.
