PHDCCI-Jammu organizes Webinar on parcel train service

Jammu, Apr 19: PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry Jammu organized an Interaction Webinar on Special Parcel train Service of Indian Railways. Senior DTM, Railway-Jammu- Pathankot Range, Chetan Taneja deliberated various aspects involved in this service with the members of PHDCCI and stake holders of Trade and Industry of Jammu.
Addressing an interactive session through webinar under the aegis of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry here today Taneja stressed that the Railway department has begun to intensify its attention to work for this segment of transport of essential as well as general commodities, he urged that the Jammu Industry and Traders should avail this parcel train service for the quick movement during the lock down period. The movement of parcel train is typically from point to point, and at a time, at least five parcel bogies for the same destination can be loaded in a train. He further stated that the schedule and live status of Parcel Trains running from Jammu to Delhi and all over country is available on National Train Enquiry System (NTES) and these trains will have transit at Pathankot , Jallandhar , Ludhiana , Ambala , Panipat & Delhi. According to him, the Northern Railways can facilitate movement of goods across India with the help in transit of goods from the supplier to the respective Railway station and also facilitate delivery of Goods to customer in coordination with respective State/ UT administration. The time tabled Cargo Parcel trains are being run to enable transport of goods across India & provide logistics support to the states, businesses, Industries as well as Individuals during the Covid – 19 Lockdown. No Matter what the destination, the railway parcel service will deliver the item, he added.
