Role of some officers in Mendhar during lockdown under scanner

MENDHAR, May 3: While the entire country is fighting the corona virus epidemic, there are also some government officials and employees are robbing people by taking advantage of lockdown. According to sources, an officer in Mendhar administration in connivance with few others is active these days to fleece money from those shopkeepers, who want to open their shops during the lockdown phase. However, the shopkeepers are being intimidated by the officer and his gang that their shops will be seized if money is not paid, said sources, adding that self-styled media person who is also harassing shopkeepers by teaming up with that officer. Sources also said that a lot of shops are opening daily in Mendhar from which an amount of about Rs 30,000 has been collected so far.
Sources said that the shopkeepers are told in advance that when the Mendhar administrative officials visit the market then the shopkeepers must shut down the shops immediately. Later they also take vegetables, fruits and grocery items free of cost from the shopkeepers. People are alleging that this work is being carried out at this time with the involvement of some officers and employees of the administration, in which the poor shopkeepers are harassed and those who are rich are left. They urged the Divisional Commissioner Jammu to investigate the entire matter and also demanded action against such officers.
