SRINAGAR, May 3: As Jammu & Kashmir is increasing its testing capacity for the Corona Virus suspected cases the positive cases are also increasing in the union territory especially Kashmir valley. Today while 34 cases were reported from Kashmir one case came to the fore from Samba district in Jammu division.
With the fresh cases reported today the number of positive cases in Jammu & Kashmir has reached 701. As 287 persons have recovered and eight others have died the number of active cases in the union territory are 406. As on date there are 397 active cases of Corona Virus in Kashmir while as the number of such cases are nine in Jammu division.
In the Kashmir valley the fresh cases were reported from Kupwara, Anantnag, Budgam, Shopian, Baramulla and Pulwama districts. While 11 cases were reported from Kupwara district, 10 such cases came to the fore from Anantnag district. Budgam, Shopian, Baramulla and Pulwama districts accounted for five, four, three and one case each.
In the meantime, Rohit Kansal spokesman for Jammu & Kashmir government today said that Jammu & Kashmir has broken the 2000 barrier of tests for COVID-19 patients. “Finally J&K breaks the 2000 tests a day barrier. Over 2500 tests conducted in a day. New positives 35; Recoveries 33. Total cases now 701 (Kashmir 640, Jammu 61),” tweeted Kansal.
Meanwhile, an official said that SKIMS Medical College Hospital Bemina Sunday informed that 27 more Covid-19 patients were discharged from the hospital after recovering from the contagious disease. So far 75 Covid-19 patients have recovered among the 149 such patients admitted in the hospital.
“The 27 patients who were discharged from the hospital after recovery from Covid-19 infection today include 19 from Bandipora, seven from Baramulla and one from Budgam district. With this the percentage of recovered patients jumps to 50.33 per cent which is among the highest in Jammu and Kashmir and well above the national average of 29.5%,” a statement of the SKIMS said.
The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 35 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), one from Jammu division and 34 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 701. Out of 701 positive cases, 406 are active positive, 287 have recovered and eight have died.
Moreover, 33 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals- two from Jammu division and 31 from Kashmir division. The Bulletin further said that out of 26,038 test results available, 25,337 samples have tested as negative till May 3, 2020.
“Furthermore, till date 75,838 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which includes 10,751 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 183 in Hospital Quarantine, 406 in hospital isolation and 7,104 under home surveillance. Besides, 57,386 persons have completed their surveillance period,” said the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Bandipora has 128 positive cases with 72 active positive, 55 recovered, one died; Anantnag district 109 positive cases with 107 active positive, one recovered, one died; Srinagar has 106 positive cases with 34 active positive, 70 recovered, two died; Baramulla 91 positive with 54 active positive, 34 recovered, three died; Shopian has 81 positive cases, 62 active positive, 19 recovered.
“Kupwara has 66 positive cases, 43 active positive, 23 recovered; Budgam 26 positive cases wherein 14 are active positive and 12 recovered; Ganderbal has 14 positive cases and all of them have recovered; Kulgam has 11 positive cases with eight active positive and three recoveries; Pulwama eight positive cases with five active positive, three recovered,” said the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 26 positive cases and all of them have recovered; Udhampur 20 positive cases, 19 recovered and 01 died, Samba seven positive cases wherein three are active positive and four have recovered; Rajouri has four positive cases, one active positive and three have recovered; Kathua has one positive case who is active positive; Kishtwar one positive who has recovered; Ramban has one positive case who is active positive; Reasi has one positive case who is active positive.
