Collection of COVID-19 samples of pregnant women, labourers gets underway at DH Kishtwar

KISHTWAR, May 6: In a significant development, the District Hospital Kishtwar began the collection of samples for COVID-19 that of pregnant women, vegetable vendors, labourers which is underway at District Hospital Kishtwar and in last few days, over 300 samples has been collected so far at District Hospital Kishtwar by dedicated COVID warriors of health department.
As per the details available with Early Times, as a part of Government initiative to keep check on spread of COVID 19, District Hospital Kishtwar established COVID 19 sample collection center where the health department officials collect the samples from the pregnant women, vegetable vendors and labourers who arrived at Kishtwar without test.
After collecting the samples, same were sent to command hospital Udhampur for testing and the report of each test got confirmed within a day or two.
As per the officials at District Hospital Kishtwar all the sample reports received till yesterday day are negative.
The whole exercise is being personally monitored by the Deputy Superintendent District Hospital Kishtwar Dr Parvaiz Iqbal Wani who himself take the stock of safety norms to be adopted in dealing with the COVID 19 related issues.
The hospital management is continuously using disinfectant to keep the hospital safe.
Beside focusing on COVID 19 related activities, the hospital management successfully manage to operate emergency including gynae theatre where in pregnant women had successfully been operated and as many as seven pregnancy related operation were conducted by the gynaecologist and the team of doctors at District Hospital Kishtwar yesterday itself including on in late night hours .
Speaking to Early Times, one of the vegetable vendor who had reported for the test today said that the team of health department approach them for the test today added that around 15 such vendors give their samples today while other has been given time slot for tomorrow.
“We have to go for random sampling — of vendors and shopkeepers who directly deal with the huge rush of people— “ said Health official who is part of the team added that all such vendors and shopkeepers will be tested in days to come.
It is pertinent to mention here that Kishtwar District lacks dedicated COVID-19 hospital as such the samples are being sent to Command Hospital Udhampur.
