BJP expresses concern over plight of stranded J&K people
5/7/2020 12:10:33 AM

JAMMU, May 6: BJP J&K UT Publication Incharge, Rajnish Jain today expressed concern over the plight of people of UT who are stranded in other states due to lockdown and want to come back to their home but are facing a lot of difficulties.
In a press note issued today, Rajnish Jain though appreciated the decision of administration to bring back all stranded persons to UT but also expressed dissatisfaction over the problems which people are facing upon entrance at Lakhanpur. Though appreciating the administration in taking all preventive measures to avoid community spread of COVID-19 including the test which is being done of all the people who are coming from outer states, he said that the report of test is taking minimum 72 hours during which period, people are not allowed to go to their homes and they have to stay at the centres made by govt waiting for their report. To overcome this issue, Rajnish Jain further added that Govt should tie up with the budget hotels in Kathua and Lakhanpur so that people can be accommodated in these hotels upon payment of subsidized rent which hotels will charge directly from people. As hotels are having zero occupancy these days, better rates can be negotiated. This will make earnings for hotel owners and will make waiting period of 72 hours or more a little convenient. He said that at present people who are waiting for their report are living in congested halls with no proper sanitation facilities which may spread the disease further.
He also raised question on administration policy of double checking the Incoming persons for COVID 19, firstly at Lakhanpur and then by respective districts from which the person belongs, thereby making the process complex. He stressed that there should be one test performed for COVID 19 checking either at Lakhanpur or by concerned district which will ease the process of return of stranded persons.
