Publicity stunt: BJP leader hits out at police
Resorts to lip service, forgets his party is ruling party

Early Times Report

Jammu, June 10: Bharatiya Janata Party leader Yudhvir Sethi hitting out at Traffic Police for allegedly harassing shopkeepers in Jammu at the pretext of them violating the rules is nothing but a “mockery.”
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, “Don’t you find it strange that the BJP leader is taking against his own government. Someone needs to remind him that the it’s the BJP which is ruling at both the places in Centre as well in J&K. It seems by talking against the system he is just trying to hoodwink the poor shopkeepers and the common people, who have been suffering for the past three months due to the outbreak of COVID-19.”
He said that Yudhvir Sethi is no ordinary man.
“If he (Sethi) is really concerned about the problems being faced by the people he can rake up this issue at the highest level and can demand stern action against the cops who are harassing the people. Sethi’s statement is nothing but a lip service aimed at befooling the people,” the analyst added.
It’s in place to mention here that Sethi while briefing the media persons in Jammu on Tuesday had said, “Traffic Police is harassing the law abiding citizens on the name of traffic rules and slapping Challans on them unnecessarily after charging them of violation of rules. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused mass disruptions to the nation's economy, its trade, industry and the lives of citizens. Instead of extending support to the traders of Jammu, District Administration as well as Traffic Police has unnecessarily harassing the shopkeepers by challaning and lifting vehicles of customers parked outside the shops.”
The analyst said, “People of Jammu should not take his statement so seriously.
If he really wanted to help them, he could have requested the administrators to do the needful or would have directly taken up the matter of Ministry of Home Affairs. The BJP leader should realize that people of Jammu are politically matured people and easily differentiate between a publicity stunt and a sincere attempt.”
