Early Times Report

Mendhar, July 19: Misusing their official powers, some revenue officials here in district Poonch have allegedly evicted a shopkeeper from a rented shop on the instance of the owner of the shop in absence of the shopkeeper.
The owner of the shop along with concerned revenue officials played foul and misplaced all the material from the shop in the absence of the shopkeeper. Moreover, despite complaints lodged with the concerned police station by the victim, no action has been taken by the police against the ‘culprits’ till date and to find out the material worth lakhs, which was hidden by the owner.
Talking to Early Times, the victim Ved Prakash said that he had been running a business from a rented shop for the last 10-12 years but suddenly after lockdown, his shop was vacated without giving any notice and knowledge.
“I used to pay rent of the shop regularly, which is on the second floor, but due to lockdown in view of COVID-19 pandemic, my shop remained shut. Meanwhile the owner of the shop along with Naib Tehsildar and Patwari vacated the shop and misplaced all the material in the shop without informing me and my absence. Even the fitting in the shop was also removed. The cost of the material which was hidden by them was around Rs 5-6 lakhs. When I enquired about my material from the owner, he didn’t give me any reply,” Prakash said.
He accused the Naib Teshildar Mendhar and Patwari of misusing their powers and helping the owner. “I approached the Naib Tehsildar about the material of the shop, he out-rightly denied any information about the matter and tried to show that he had no involvement in the issue,” Prakash said.
He appealed to the police to take action against the culprits and demanded recovery of his misplaced material. When SHO Mendhar Manzoor Kohli was contacted in his matter, he said that a complaint in this case has been received and he is verifying the allegations and action will be taken according to the findings of the case.
When the Tehsildar Mendhar was contacted about this whole matter, he said that in my cognizance this matter has come from your side, he said, I do not know about this, subject, I will confirm and will tell you later, he said.
