Mirwaiz in touch with Pakistan after Geelani’s resignation
Letter from Pak exposes Hurriyat decay
7/27/2020 11:48:22 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, July 27: After the recent resignation of senior separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani, a letter purportedly written from the Pakistan chapter of the so called Hurriyat Conference has exposed the further decay in the separatist party.
The letter from Faiz Naqshbandi, the Convener of the PoK chapter of the Hurriyat has been addressed to Geelani’s counterpart Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. The Early Times had accessed a copy of the letter.
The contents of the letter suggest that Pakistan has stopped backing the Hurriyat Conference and that Geelani had resigned from the amalgam only after getting cold response from the other side of the fence.
The letter says that Pakistan and its intelligence agencies were no more interested to support Hurriyat leadership in Kashmir and that many of the so called Hurriyat leaders in PoK have changed their loyalties towards Pakistan.
The letter endorses that Geelani had resigned from the Hurriyat on the same compulsion.
But what is even shocking is that the letter claims that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq had mailed a letter to the PoK chapter of the Hurriyat after Geelani’s resignation.
The letter, however, doesn’t speak about what Mirwaiz had written to the other side.
The letter states that “Things have gone very messy in Pakistan and that Hurriyat leaders have been marginalized by the Pakistani government and the ISI both.” Though the Hurriyat has been silent over the issue, what makes the letter look real is that a similar letter had surfaced around two months ago where in it was reported that Geelani was having strained relations with the PoK chapter of the Hurriyat. One month after the letter went viral, Geelani had resigned from the Hurriyat.
“See this letter resembles in content the previous letter and one can believe it to be real. Otherwise also it’s an open secret in Kashmir that Pakistan has dumped Hurriyat,” said one analyst. It is pertinent to mention that after the abrogation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat has received a setback. Observers say the Geelani’s resignation from the Hurriyat is victory of New Delhi in the abrogation of the special status.
