Harsh Dev seeks ‘Shaurya Chakra’ for martyred JCO Sukhdev, ex-gratia of Rs 1 cr
10/6/2020 10:19:54 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

UDHAMPUR, Oct 6: Paying rich tributes to martyred JCO Sukhdev Singh of Peoni, Majalta, in district Udhampur, who made the supreme sacrifice by laying down his life for the defense of the nation, Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP and former Minister urged upon the GoI to announce ‘Shaurya Chakra’ award posthumously for the brave heart.
He said that the martyred Jawan who bravely faced the Pakistani bullets had made not only the Majalta tehsil proud but the entire nation was indebted to him for the great sacrifice made by him for the country.
Singh was addressing the media persons at Peoni after attending the last rites of the brave heart in his native village today.
Speaking on the occasion, Harsh Dev Singh said that the nation shall always remain grateful to the martyr who had laid down his life for the country and its flag. He castigated the GoI for its failure to rein -in the rogue nation which had resorted to intensified and persistent ceasefire violations in the past few years in J&K. “With unprecedented loss of precious lives of our brave soldiers during the last 4-5 years, the BJP has proved an utter failure in checking Pak’s misadventures all across the IB and LoC”, anguished Harsh said.
Accusing the BJP regime for its exaggerated dissonance on restoration of peace in J&K, Singh recalled that the Central BJP leadership during opposition had made a statement that the problem was not on the borders but in Delhi and as soon as its govt came to power, Pak would lose the courage to even look into our eyes.
Strongly admonishing the govt for being abominably callous towards the martyrs of J&K, Singh rued that unlike UT of J&K, all other States had been honouring their martyrs with open coffers, dignity and honour. He called upon the Union Defense Minister Raj Nath Singh to provide 1 crore ex-gratia relief to the NoK of martyr Sukhdev Singh in conformity with the tall pronouncements of the Central govt. The brave heart also deserves conferment of posthumous ‘Shourya Chakra’ who has made all of us proud, asserted Harsh. Singh further urged upon the Lt Governor to settle the claims and dues of all the families of brave hearts hailing from J&K for their revered sacrifice.
