‘Desperate’ PDP compares Hathras with Rassana to create ethnic divide in society
10/6/2020 11:34:30 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 6: Even as the whole nation is demanding justice for the victims of the inhuman incident of Hathras of Uttar Pradesh, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in J&K is desperately trying to create divide among people on ethnic and religious lines by comparing this incident with Rassana case.
One newly appointed spokesman of PDP brazenly compared Hathras case with Rassana incident to praise his leader Mehbooba Mufti and he also tried to divide people on ethnic lines by highlighting ethnicity of a police officer who had filed charge sheet in that infamous.
As residents of Jammu region still have some reservations about the investigation conducted by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), PDP spokespersons, who tried to be ‘more-loyal than king’ tried to create ethnic divide in the society.
After its failure to create divide among people on religion lines on Rassana case, PDP leadership has now given free hand to such spokespersons to highlight ethnicity of the officers to create ethnic divide in Jammu region.
Important to mention that PDP leadership, especially Mehbooba Mufti had earlier given free hand to one rape accused to create religious divide in Jammu but the leadership had failed to brotherhood and communal harmony among people living in different parts of Jammu region.
Now, it appears that PDP has devised another strategy to create ethnic divide in Jammu by appreciating officers on the basis of their ethnicity.
“Tale of 2 gruesome crimes. #Hathras & #Asifa J&K. The then CM @MehboobaMufti stood for justice, BJP had to drop 2 top minister's. A Kashmiri Pandit officer filed chargesheet in record time. In UP forget about justice @myogiadityanath didn't let family to do the last rites”, Mohit Raina, the newly appointed spokesperson of PDP tweeted.
Highlighting the ethnicity of a police officer is a brazen attempt to divide society on ethnic lines.
Youth wing of PDP also held a torch light process at Gandhi Nagar on Monday in which party leaders were openly mentioning the name of the Hathras victim which was a violation of the Supreme Court ruling.
Meanwhile the Uttar Pradesh government Tuesday called for a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the alleged gang-rape and murder of a girl Hathras district.
In an affidavit filed before the Supreme Court, the UP government sought its directions for a CBI probe into the shocking incident, which has become a massive talking point in the recent.
The Supreme Court should also monitor the CBI investigation into the Hathras case by keeping the public interest litigation (PIL) pending before it, the affidavit said.
The affidavit said that a "vicious campaign" has been unleashed on social media, TV and print media to defame the Uttar Pradesh government.
