| PWD carries out substandard blacktopping in Panchayat Loran | | | Rajesh Tandon

Poonch, Oct 6: Functioning of Public Works Department (PWD) Poonch has come under severe criticism with the substandard blacktopping of road in Panchayat Loran of tehsil Mandi which started getting off after a few days.
The locals alleged that they had been struggling for the blacktopping of roads in their Panchayat for the last 20 years and now after concerted effort, the work of blacktopping started a few days ago but the material was so substandard that it started getting off.
Later the residents complained with the concerned Junior Engineer, who visited the spot thereby repairing was done from only those points where blacktopping was getting off but he didn’t take note of the entire stretch.
“JE ignored the complaint of substandard material used and told us they don’t know about the material. We also demonstrated him by picking up pieces of the blacktopping on the road which were getting off,” they alleged further adding that they already had to wait for 20 years for macadam and now substandard work was done due to nexus between PWD officials and contractors.
The local residents appealed to LG for taking note of the issue and demanded enquiry into this matter and demanded strict action against erring officials, who had not been discharging their duties just for the sake of commission. |
