Power bigger than any cause
11/16/2020 12:42:39 AM
President of Apni Party and former minister, Altaf Bukhari, taking a dig at Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD)—an amalgam of Kashmir centric parties, including National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party—has apparently rattled the PAGD leaders.
PAGD vice-president and former J&K chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti and the spokesman of the amalgam Sajad Gani Lone have claimed that the aim of PAGD is not power. They have claimed that Kashmir centric parties have come together for a bigger cause. “We have a bigger cause to fight for than bicker over DDC elections.”
Someone needs to ask these leaders if they are fighting for a bigger cause then why they are politicizing the insignificant issues. Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari appears to have touched their “dukhti rag” by asking them what did the five MPs of National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party do to save the Article 370? His direct attack has left the PAGD leaders dumbfounded. They have no answers to his questions.
The decision of the PAGD to contest the DDC polls itself is an ample proof of the fact that the Kashmir centric parties want to once again knock at the doors of the power as they cannot stay away from it for a longtime.
Leaders like Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti cannot take people for a ride anymore by selling dreams. For 70-years they sold an illusion that Kashmir is an issue and it needs to be resolved. They spoke about Pakistan and Azadi and kept on blackmailing New Delhi by claiming that Kashmir would slip away if the J&K’s special status is fiddled with.
As on date all their lies stand exposed. Prior to August 5, 2019, when J&K was reorganized, the Kashmir centric leaders used to tread different paths but after abrogation of Article 370 they have come together and have coined a new slogan that they would get everything back. They should stop fooling the people and muster courage to tell the masses that nothing will come back and nationalism is the way forward.
Kashmir centric politicians want to keep the cake and eat it too. But they need to bear in mind that the times have changed and they cannot do so.
Everyone has understood that their aim is power and the clarifications being given by them are just eyewash.
Today they are bickering over seat sharing arrangement in coming days they will fight for who will be the boss. Restoration of Article 370 will be automatically pushed under the carpet.
