| Panchayat representative ‘encroaches’ irrigation land | | | Rajesh Tandon

Jammu, Nov 15: A panchayat representative from RS Pura tehsil has allegedly encroached irrigation land and constructed a shop on it but the officials are acting as mute spectators.
Sources told Early Times that in panchayat Makhanpur Gujjran of Block Miran Sahib of RS Pura, a panchayat representative and his son have grabbed the irrigation land and constructed a shop on it.
They further said that a complaint application was submitted to Sub District Magistrate (SDM)
R S Pura in this connection, who further marked the same to the concerned AEE Irrigation Department but no action was taken against the encroachers.
The complainant alleged that before submitting a complaint to the SDM, he had informed about the same to the concerned AEE more than ten times but except assurance, he did nothing. He alleged that the accused also constructed a slab on irrigation canal due to which the width of tributaries has decreased, which has further resulted in reduction of water, which caters to around five panchayats.
When Early Times contacted the DC Jammu, she said that she assured that she would take action after going through the matter. |
