| Army pays tribute to soldiers martyred in Pak ceasefire violation at LoC | | |

SRINAGAR, Nov 15: The Army on Sunday paid rich tribute to four soldiers, who were martyred in ceasefire violation by Pakistan near the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir on Friday.
Defence Ministry spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia told that Havildar Hardhan Chandra Roy, Naik Satai Bhushan Rameshrao, Gunner Subodh Ghosh and Sepoy Jondhale Rushikesh Ramchandra, who made the supreme sacrifice on Friday in north Kashmir, were on Sunday paid a befitting tribute by the Army in a solemn ceremony at BadamiBagh Cantonment.
“General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 15 Corps (Chinar Corps), Lt Gen BS Raju and all ranks paid homage to the soldiers on behalf of a proud nation,” he said.
Col Kalia said on Friday Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked ceasefire violations in multiple sectors of north Kashmir. “Havildar Hardhan Chandra Roy and Gunner Subodh Ghosh of the Regiment of Artillery were deployed in Uri Sector while Naik Satai Bhushan Rameshrao and Sepoy Jondhale Rushikesh Ramchandra of the Maratha Light Infantry were deployed in Gurez Sector,” he said.
He said in the unprovoked artillery shelling by Pakistan Army, these bravehearts received multiple splinter injuries. “They were provided immediate medical aid and evacuated to nearest military medical facility but unfortunately succumbed,” he said.
He said Havildar Roy, who was 38 years old, belonged to village Mhedhipara of Futkibari Tehsil in Dhubri District, Assam. He had joined the Army in 2001 and is survived by his wife and son.
“Naik Satai Bhushan Rameshrao hailed from village Kotal in Nagpur District, Maharashtra and was 28 years old. He had joined the Army in 2011 and is survived by his parents,” Col Kalia said. The Defence spokesperson said Gunner Ghosh had joined the Army in 2017 and was 22 years old.
He belonged to village Raghunathpur of Tehatta Tehsil in Nadia District, West Bengal and is survived by his wife and parents. “Sepoy Ramchandra hailed from village Bahirewadi of Ajara Tehsil in Kolhapur District, Maharashtra and was 20 years old. The martyr had joined the Army in 2019 and is survived by his parents,” he added. He said Chinar Corps also acknowledges the supreme sacrifice of Sub-Inspector Rakesh Doval of Border Security Force (BSF) who laid down his life during the ceasefire violation in Naugam Sector.
“The mortal remains of the bravehearts were taken for last rites to their native places, where they would be laid to rest with full military honours. In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with these bereaved families and remains committed to their dignity and well-being,” he added. |
