SSK honours Sanjay Pandita, Shardalipi teacher for his contribution towards Sharada script

JAMMU, Nov 15: Sharada script is the native script of Kashmir and is named after Goddess Sharada. Originally, the usage of Sharada script was widespread and was prevalent in whole of Northwestern part of Indian subcontinent. The Kashmiri and Sanskrit languages were written in the sharada script. Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra, Anand Nagar, Bohri, Jammu has been in the forefront for preserving and propagating the culture and heritage of Kashmir- The Land of Sharada. The larger purpose of SSK is complete revival and promotion of sharda script. During the lockdown due to Covid-19 pandemic SSK has taken an initiative to teach the Sharda script through whatsapp medium among the interesting participants. Till date 15 batches of more than 450 participants have successfully completed the course. The teaching of the sharada script is being conducted under the guidance of Sanjay Pandita who has been sincerely and meticulously training the participants. Due to his tireless and sincere efforts a pool of 40 trained teachers in sharda has been created. To recognize the hard work and sincere efforts of Pandita the Shardalipi section of SSK organized an impressive function to honour and felicitate him. The function was presided over by Avtar Krishen Trakroo and Dr. Satya Bhan was Guest of Honour. The function began with a welcome address by S. K. Kandroo and presentation of roses to Pandita by all the participating shardalipi students. A. K. Khazanchi while discussing the journey of the Shardalipi teaching elaborated on the development of script. He emphasised that Kashmir has always been referred as the land of knowledge and students and scholars from far off places used to study at Sharda peeth university.
