Poonch, Feb 18: The District Administration Poonch seems to have turned its eyes blind toward the major problem of traffic congestion in the city.
Although an alternative circular road was constructed near SK Bridge to decongest the traffic movement in the city has not been made functional by the administration.
Traffic jams have become a common sight in Poonch city due to which people have to face huge difficulty to pass through.
“It takes half an hour to cross even 500 meters of stretch.
Private vehicles, autos, Sumos can be seen parked haphazardly which create traffic jams as there are no designated parking slots for these commercial vehicles,” the local residents alleged.
They further said that in order to get rid of traffic jams, an alternative circular road was constructed but it has not been made functional due to negligence of administration. Due to consistent traffic jams, emergency services also get affected even ambulances can be seen stuck in the jam.
There is another road which leads to the Hospital so that emergency patients can reach it easily without facing traffic congestion but the condition of the road is so bad that nobody take this route.
It has been observed that during VIP visits only cosmetic uplifting is done to hoodwink them and once after they return, the condition of the road again comes back to its previous condition. Traffic police also feel helpless to control traffic movement in the city.
Whenever a complaint is made to high-ups about the plight of dilapidated roads, the concerned administration submits false reports to their seniors.
The local residents appealed to the LG to have a visit in Poonch city so that the reality of traffic congestion as well as the dilapidated condition of the road may come before him.
