JKBOPEE headless since Dec 2021, Additional Chief Secy in Delhi; students suffer

Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 18: Students who had qualified the examinations held by the J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) have been left perplexed and confused due to non-serious attitude of the government.
According to the details available with Early Times BOPEE chairman Shafiq Raina attained superannuation on December 13, 2021 and since then the board has been headless.
At present Additional Chief Secretary is holding the additional charge of the BOPEE. Results were announced in November 2021 and till date students have neither been allotted colleges nor they are being told how they should proceed.
Dr Sunil K Gupta, Controller Examination, while talking to a Jammu based daily said that the Additional Chief Secretary has gone to New Delhi and the file would move after he returns.
The Medical Council of India has already passed the directions that new sessions in the professional colleges should commence by February 2022. “The bureaucrats should understand that BOPEE only conducts exams for professional courses and this process cannot be delayed. They should realize that children of J&K are as good as the children of other states and they cannot be left to fend on their own. If the Additional Chief Secretary is feeling overburdened the government should appoint a BOPEE chairman at the earliest so that students don’t suffer,” said an observer.
