In J&K natives don’t matter
2/18/2022 11:18:47 PM
Haryana Government led by BJP has reserved 75% jobs for local candidates in the private sector and has also framed an Act for it. The Supreme Court vacated the stay order on the Act and allowed the Haryana Government to carry on with its policy of reserving the jobs for natives.
The dispensation led by BJP Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar by reserving 75% jobs for local youth in the private sector has driven home a point that natives matter and they cannot be ignored.
If one compares J&K with Haryana, there is stark contrast. In J&K the regime managed by the bureaucrats is ignoring the locals and prefers others over them. Leave aside the private sector, there is no reservation for natives in the government sector.
Recently J&K Government issued a circular to withdraw all posts advertised before October 31, 2019. It was a glaring example of how the local youth are being pushed to the wall. Furthermore, the anti-people policies of the present regime have also rendered thousands of local youth jobless in the private sector also.
After J&K’s transition into a Union Territory natives have been demanding that the government should ensure that locals don’t suffer. But the policies that are being framed by the bureaucrats are anti-youth. Even the youngsters from Jammu and Kashmir who want to start an industry are being ignored as much attention is being paid towards attracting the investors from outside.
On August 5, 2019, J&K and Ladakh were designated as two Union Territories. All the rights of people in Ladakh have been safeguarded but the same doesn’t hold true for J&K, where most of the rights, including the right to employment, have been snatched. Many people are of the opinion that J&K along with Article 370 was much better off.
The local BJP leaders have been caught in a tight spot as they have stated on many occasions that they have no say in the government. But the fact is that the J&K Government is being run by the BJP. It seems that local BJP leaders are not even being heard. They recently demanded that the government should rescind its order of withdrawing posts advertised before October 31, 2019, but they didn’t get any response from the administration. They will be able to get jobs reserved for J&K natives is asking for too much.
