Early Times Report

Srinagar, Apr 4: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) man was killed and another was wounded in a militant attack in the city centre on Monday afternoon. The attack on CRPF took place hours after two non local labourers were fired upon in Pulwama.
Officials said a CRPF man was killed and another injured in a broad daylight attack at Maisuma area of Srinagar.
They said militants fired at two CRPF personnel, wounding them critically.
“The injured were shifted to the hospital for treatment. One of the injured CRPF men succumbed to his injuries,” an official said.
The slain CRPF man has been identified as head constable Vishal.
Soon after the shooting, joint forces launched a massive hunt to nab the attackers. Political parties have condemned the attack on CRPF in Srinagar. PDP President Mehbooba Mufti said “This senseless violence doesn’t yield anything apart from inflicting miseries on the innocent families of those killed.”
“Unreservedly condemn the cowardly attack in Maisuma, Srinagar earlier in the day, in which one CRPF personnel lost his life. Our condolences go out to his family and friends. Prayers for the swift recovery of the one injured,” National Conference tweeted. Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari said the cycle of violence is despicable and would further worsen the state of miseries.
“It only leaves one in inevitable loss and adds on to our collective sufferings,” said Bukhari in a statement.
Earlier in the day, two non-local labourers from Bihar were shot and injured in Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Officials said the militants attacked two non local labourers at Lijora area Pulwama this afternoon.
“The two injured with firearm injuries have been shifted to hospital,” a senior official said.
Soon after the incident, security forces launched a hunt to nab the attackers.
On Sunday evening, two labourers identified as Dheeraj Dutt and Surinder Singh, both residents of Pathankot Punjab, were fired upon at Nowpora Litter area of Pulwama.
In Pulwama district, six non locals have been wounded in separate attacks in over a fortnight period.
The targeted attacks on migrant workers have sparked fear among them.
