'Raped by father', Bandipora girl ends life

S Tahir-ul Haq Early Times Report BANDIPORA, Apr 13: A girl committed suicide after being allegedly raped by her father for several years in this north Kashmir district. A top police official said that the girl, daughter of Wilayat Qureshi, of Challiwan Gojarpati in Aragam died after taking some poisonous substance at her home. "The accused has been arrested and police has taken the dead body into its custody and medico-legal formalities are being conducted," the police official said. He said a case FIR No. 4/2019 has been registered in PS-Aragam U/S 306,376,509 RPC. The girl's sister has alleged that first her uncle Ayoub Qureshi used to have illicit relationship with her sister after which he sold her to someone. "Later my father did the same thing with my sister," she said. "Once my father did the crime, he apologized to my elder sister and promised that he will not repeat the same.
