Maharashtra has announced that salary of Chief Minister, cabinet ministers, MLAs, MLCs and representatives of local governing bodies will be cut by 60% in March. The salaries of class I and II officers will be cut by 50% and salaries of class-III employees will be cut by 25%. Similarly Telangana has cut the salaries of its employees and pensions from 10% to 75%. Rajasthan government has announced that salaries between 1 to 5 days will be cut of all the employees for providing relief to the COVID-19 victims. Odhisha and Andhra Pradesh have deferred the salaries of the government employees for the March month. The COVID-19 has turned into a full blown economic crisis across the country leaving the state governments with no other option other than to go for pay cut of its employees.
