srinagar, June 29: With the Deputy Speaker Legislative Assembly Wednesday asking the government to present detailed report about action taken against the senior IAS officer linked to the suicide attempt of another IAS officer, the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti Wednesday called the concerned IAS officer to her secretariat and sought first hand information to know the merit of the case.
Official sources informed Early Times that soon after the Assembly session was over the IAS officer received a call from the CM's secretariat, and a closed door meeting was held between the Chief Minister and the concerned IAS officer allegedly linked to a suicide attempt of another IAS officer, who was packed off to New Delhi after a sensational disclosure which rocked the state assembly last week. "The meeting lasted for a short time wherein the Chief Minister sought first hand information to know the merit of the case," sources said.
Sources said that the meeting was held, subsequent to the uproar in the Assembly by the members of the opposition who demanded registration of an FIR in the said case.
Sources said that tomorrow the government will come up with the action taken report in the matter.
It is to mention here that on Wednesday MLAs in the Assembly from across the party lines questioned PDP-BJP coalition government's silence on IAS officer involved in an attempt to suicide by another senior IAS officer.
The issue was raised by Javaid Mir who was supported by BJP and NC legislators who demanded that police register an FIR into the case and the official should be removed from his present position.
The demand from the MLA's forced the Deputy Speaker to ask the government to present detailed report tomorrow about action taken against the senior IAS officer linked to the suicide attempt of another IAS officer.
MLAs asked "if there was an attempt of suicide, then why one IAS was officer shifted and why is action not being taken against another IAS officer?"
Ex Minister and MLA Javaid Mustafa Mir said "If this House has any value, then FIR should been filed as soon as possible. All MLAs of this House are concerned but I don't understand what is stopping government to take action." He asked
BJP State President, Sat Sharma also asked Deputy Speaker "The officer involved must face actions under law and house must be informed"
It is to mention here that an IAS officer working as a district magistrate in the Valley was alleged to have attempted suicide by cutting her wrist on June 17.
According to reports, the IAS officer after returning to her residence was joined by another colleague, also a senior IAS officer; however, after some time when the visiting officer left the residence of her colleague, the domestic help of the female officer reportedly found her lying in a semi-conscious with blood flowing from her wrists. She was rushed to a hospital where after an initial treatment she was discharged.
This episode triggered wild rumours forcing the government to remove her from her present posting in haste.
A senior police officer told early times that although the matter has come into their notice through media, the lack of a complaint against any one of the two persons, has kept them away from filing an FIR. "Since there is no complaint against anyone, we have not yet filed any case", the officer said.
