Jammu, Apr 13: Alleging gross irregularities committed by concerned teaching faculty of Department for Strategic and Regional studies (DSRS) of Jammu University, National Secular Forum (NSF) today appealed to Chancellor NN Vohra to direct varsity administration to conduct audit of last four years of department and other bungling during the period of former director of Department for Strategic and Regional studies (DSRS) in Jammu University. Speaking to media persons, NSF University Unit President, Qayoom Malik, appealed the Chancellor of Jammu University /Governor NN Vohra to direct State Vigilance Organization (SVO) and holding a separate inquiry of entire episode of DSRS department in last Four years. He said that it was very astounding to notice that in the last four years, large scale irregularities were committed by former director of Department for Strategic and Regional studies on account of appointments, admissions and idle expenditure of funds.
"Huge public money was wasted by former director of concerned department in last four years, who had also accumulated huge wealth by swindling funds", he said, adding that without any advertisement he adjusted blue eyed in DSRS as Computer Assistant, moreover it is surprising that without joining he withdraw the salary of Computer Assistant.
NSF president Qayoom Malik, further alleged, "During the former director's tenure, a large number of library books went missing from DSRS. There are reports of embezzlement of funds also besides a huge scandal was also reported when admission process for M.phil and PhD courses was on in the department." "We have also requested to Vice Chancellor of the university to start a separate probe of the Statistic department but VC was found uninterested in the enquiry", he said, adding that now they were appealing Governor NN Vohra to directed State Vigilance Organization (SVO) and holding a separate inquiry of entire episode of DSRS department in last four years. Among those who were present in the press-conference included Narinder Singh, Barket Tahir, Rishikesh Rana, Amit Salgotra, Bhupinder Singh, and Amit.
