Kashmir issue | Separatists pin faith in Mian Nawaz Sharif | | Neha
JAMMU, Apr 13: The Kashmir Valley doesn't constitute the State of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. The Valley, the trouble spot and hub of all anti-national activities, constitutes less than five per cent of the state's land area, but houses approximately 25 per cent of the state's population. Ironically, the separatists in the Valley and their supporters outside it, including the likes of Arvind Kejriwal, Prashant Bhushan, Medha Patkar, Sazia Ilmi, Radha Kumar, Dilip Padgaonkar, to mention only a few, have all along tried to create an impression that the Valley means the State of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and a section of Kashmiri population that inhabits the Valley represents the general will of the people of the state. Their whole approach is sectarian, pro-separatist and pro-Pakistan and anti-Jammu and anti-Ladakh. They want New Delhi to bring Pakistan on board so that the so-called Kashmir issue is resolved to the satisfaction of Islamabad and Kashmiri leadership. Only recently, a number of Kashmiri separatists met with Pakistan high Commissioner in Delhi and expressed the hope that the government of Mian Nawaz Sharif would help resolve the Kashmir issue to their satisfaction. In fact, their recent meeting with the Pakistani High Commission has reportedly "revived hope" among them. They have come to believe that Nawaz Sharif government could do what the earlier dispensations in Pakistan couldn't do. JKLF chairman and murderer Yasin Malik said after his meeting with the Pakistani High Commissioner that "he expects a lot from the Nawaz Sharif government". "Nawaz has a Kashmiri origin so we are expecting that he will try and help in resolving Kashmir issue in future," Malik was quoted as saying. "Any engagements between India and Pakistan should be focused on Kashmir issue". Senior Hurriyat (M) leader and its former chairman Moulvi Abass Ansari expressed almost similar views about the Nawaz Sharif government. "We are really hopeful after seeing the warm response during our recent meeting in Pakistani High Commission. We expect India and Pakistan to hold talks and frame a policy that will benefit people of Jammu and Kashmir," he was quoted as saying. Chief of Jammu & Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP), Shabir Ahmad Shah, who also met with the Pakistani high Commissioner, too did not leg behind. He praised Mian Nawaz Sharif and reportedly said that Sharif understands Kashmir problem very well and can play a major role in the resolution of Kashmir issue. "Nawaz is knowledgeable and his statements have been very encouraging," Shah reportedly said, and added that the "Pakistani premier has also sought intervention of international community to facilitate talks between India and Pakistan. "Pakistan's stand regarding Kashmir issue has always been same since the beginning and expressed hope that it would stick to the same position in future too," he was also quoted as saying. However, All-Party Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani was somewhat cautious in his response. He reportedly said, "Pakistan should address its internal disputes first before expecting any headway on Kashmir" and added that Pakistan will not talk in terms of out of box solutions and focus only on the UN resolutions on Jammu & Kashmir. "We hope Pakistan will focus on United Nations resolutions instead of any out-of-box solution and will stay away from every such agreement with India which will harm Kashmir cause...Pakistan has been created with a mission and has a responsibility to become a peaceful and strong country so that it can help people of Jammu and Kashmir who are under oppression," he further said. All this only shows that all these Kashmiri separatists do not consider the people of Jammu and Ladakh important factors in the state's political situation. They are living in a fool's paradise. They will not succeed in imposing their regressive and anti-national ideology on the people of Jammu and Ladakh, who are religiously committed to India. Nawaz sharif or no Nawaz Sharif Jammu & Kashmir state ever remain an integral part of India. That's it. |
