| Congress leaders on "Political tourism" in Kathua, Udhampur | | Instead of working sincerely for Azad, leaders more particular about showoff | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, Apr 13: After completion of the polling on Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat, all Congress leaders, majority of them are "paper tigers", are moved towards Udhampur-Doda segment where party stalwart and Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad is contesting election as party candidate. Instead of conducting ground works to ensure victory of their leader these "paper tigers" are more concerned about issuing press statements to earn faith of Ghulam Nabi Azad. Offices of new papers are these days flooded with emails coming from Congress leaders who have been "aggressively" campaigning for "Azad Sahib".
Ironically emails started pouring in early in the morning in which leaders claimed that they have visited far-flung areas to mobilize public in support of Ghulam Nabi Azad. Some leaders, as per their press statements, have covered entire Kandi belt of Kathua comprised of Kathua and Hiranagar segments within two days. Some Jammu city based leaders who have rarely visit Kandi areas of Kathua are issuing statements in which they usually mentioned names of majority of the Kandi areas just to befool their leader.
Credible sources said that majority of the leaders who have been claiming to campaign aggressively for Ghulam Nabi Azad are not working on ground. Instead of going to the field these leaders usually visit to Kathua, have some snacks at roadside dhaba and returned back and this is their campaign. Some other leaders who visited to the interiors prefer to come back home in the night.
Insiders in the Congress said that some hardcore supporter of Ghulam Nabi Azad have been campaign for him while as majority of other leaders are like "political tourists". "These is totally chaos in the campaign. Everyone is claiming to aggressively campaigning but on the ground nothing visible", insiders said and added that some Congress leaders are also working to sabotage the campaign. "Accountability has yet not fixed on leaders who have been working in a particular assembly segments. All leaders are working in those areas which are strongholds of Congress and no leader is going to the weak pockets", insiders said. |
