Rahul, Omar leave Kishtwar victims high and dry: Hari Om
4/13/2014 11:26:01 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 13 : Political advisor to State BJP President, Professor Hari Om today alleged AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi and NC working president and Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of playing with the sentiments of people of Kishtwar riot victims.
He said both Rahul Gandhi and Omar Abdullah are communal and anti-minorities and they disappointed the August 9 Kishtwar victims by maintaining a stony silence over the reign of senseless brutalities unleashed by fanatics on them last year to create a Kashmir-like situation in the communally sensitive district of Jammu province, said Prof Hari Om, Political advisor to State BJP President Jugal Kishore Sharma, while addressing media persons at party headquarters on Sunday.
By not uttering a single word for the victims of terrorism, Rahul Gandhi and Omar Abdullah only established that their whole approach was communal and inhuman, he said while reacting to the communal speeches delivered by them at Doda on April 11.
"Rahul Gandhi, Omar Abdullah and others of their ilk do not miss any opportunity to attack the pro-people and democratic BJP and hold it responsible for the September 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots which took place after some goons belonging to a particular community ill-treated a young girl belonging to the majority community, but when it comes Jammu & Kashmir they either side with the rabidly anti-minority community elements, separatists and communalists or maintain stony silence and pander to communalists and separatists," he said.
Recalling what happened in Kishtwar on that black day, Prof Hari Om said that since morning that day, there had been selected attacks on shops of minority community members and they were helpless spectators to it as the authorities, including MoS Home Sajjad Ahmad Kitchloo, were in no mood to control the rioters. "The situation had turned like that of early 1990 when terrorism was at its peak.
The rioters roamed freely in the market and targeted shops and business establishments of the minority community. The August 9 situation was more dangerous as some officials in the administration were hand-in-glove with anti-national forces. Some members of the minority community migrated because they had lost faith in the administration. Nearly 100 shops of the minority community were looted and set on fire by fanatics and rioters, who were also raising anti-India and pro-Pak slogans.
The police came only after some business establishments were completely gutted in fire," said Prof Hari Om, adding that the NC-Congress coalition government was directly responsible for what the fanatics did to the minority community to cause migration and facilitate the task of the votaries of Greater Kashmir. "Credit goes to the Army that saved the situation for India, as also the precious lives of many innocent peaceful civilians," he also said. Prof Hari Om accused the Congress of dividing the society in its desperate bid to polarize voters and said that the Congress is the oldest communal party in India. Prof Hari Om asserted that the people of Jammu and Ladakh will inflict a comprehensive defeat on all the three Congress candidates in Jammu and Ladakh, return the BJP candidates to the Lok Sabha with a thumping majority and render the NC irrelevant in the Valley.
