Rajouri, June 16: After the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department has failed to provide safe drinking water to the people of Hayatpura and its adjoining areas, the Army came to the rescue of the people and have provided a hand pump which was dedicated to the locals in a inauguration ceremony held today. The hand pump was inaugurated by the sarpanch of village Hayatpura in the presence of KS Chauhan, ASP; Awaize Ahmed, DSP Manjakot; M Khan, Naib Tehsildar, Haji Sakhi Aliyat, Sarpanch of Haytpura and Guljar Hussain, Sarpanch of Sarola Haji Sakhi Aliyat, Sarpanch of Hayatpura village After having no response from the PHE department, the locals of area approached the officers of a Rashtriya Rifle operating in the area under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo Force) and apprised them about the acute shortage of drinking water as almost all the water supply schemes of the Public Health Department have gone defunct. After due clearance for financial help from the higher authorities the Rashtriya Rifles unit in collaboration with the civil population installed the hand pump along with a shed at village Hayatpura which was made operational today and was handed over to the people of the area by the army and locals whole heartedly expressed their gratitude towards the Army. Speaking on the occasion KS Chouhan, ASP said, "such gestures of the security forces are very encouraging and will go a long way in strengthening the bond between the people and the army." |
